Authorities say a police pursuit in Los Angeles’ Leimert Park on Monday led to a fiery collision, leaving a woman critically hurt and four others — one of them a 12-year-old boy — injured.

Police from LAPD’s Southwest Division were chasing a suspect before halting the pursuit near Crenshaw and Vernon around 8:20 p.m. Monday, officials reported.

According to LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart, firefighters conducted a rescue operation on the 4300 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard, extricating two crash victims from a red sedan.

The LAFD reported that five people were hospitalized, though the status of the 12-year-old boy was not immediately available.

LAPD confirmed that the suspect, wanted on DUI charges, has not yet been found. Authorities have withheld a description, and specifics about the crash are still pending.
