LAPD-led task force arrests 260+ in child exploitation sting across Southern California
Between April 6 and 19, Operation Spring Cleaning led to the arrest of over 260 suspects and the rescue of 27 children across five counties in Southern California. The operation was coordinated by the LAPD and involved over 100 agencies targeting internet crimes against minors.

Police say undercover operations on social media led to the arrest of 265 suspects accused of distributing child sexual abuse material and other crimes. Many of those arrested held positions of trust in their communities.

“Several of those taken into custody held roles that placed them in direct contact with children or carried significant community trust,” according to police. “These arrests underscore the importance of vigilance and cross-agency collaboration in safeguarding children from individuals who use their trusted positions to exploit and harm the most vulnerable.”

Charges against the suspects include possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, solicitation of minors, human trafficking, and other crimes involving sexual exploitation of children.

Police said the task force has also worked to provide internet safety training to about 1,000 parents and children, “empowering families with tools and knowledge to stay safe online.”
