The incident unfolded at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday in the Carthay neighborhood, according to LAPD press release.

A report of an assault prompted officers to respond to the area of San Vicente Boulevard and Carrillo Drive.

Police were told by witnesses that a confrontation occurred between the man and a group of 20 to 30 teens, estimated to be 16 to 18 years old.

Police reported that some suspects struck and kicked the man’s car before he got out to confront them. A fight broke out, drawing more suspects into the altercation.
