The legendary Papa Cristo’s, a Greek restaurant that’s been part of LA for nearly eight decades, is saying goodbye.
The news came from Chrys Chrys, son of Papa Cristo’s founder Sam Chrys, who shared on Facebook on April 3, that the restaurant will shut down on May 4!
The legacy began in October 1948, when Sam Chrys and his wife Annie launched their humble, family-run eatery on the corner of Pico and Normandie.
Popular picks from loyal diners include the rich chili, perfectly grilled lamb chops, and the beloved gyro sandwich.
In his announcement, Chrys Chrys expressed heartfelt gratitude to the longtime patrons of the cherished Greek eatery.
“After 77 unforgettable years on the corner of Pico and Normandie, it’s time for me to hang up my apron and for us to say goodbye (for now). On May 4, 2025, we will close this chapter with our hearts full of love and gratitude for the incredible community that has supported us for generations.”
“To all of our cherished customers and devoted staff, I say ευχαριστώ (thank you!). You are my family, and Papa Cristo’s will always be a part of yours.”
